Madonna Postpones World Tour After Health Scare

It looks like fans around the globe will have to wait a while longer before they get to see Madonna perform after a bacterial infection left her briefly hospitalised.

The 64-year-old Queen of Pop was expected to start her seven-month-long global “Celebration Tour” on 15 July at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada; but those plans were put on hold when she was found unresponsive at her New York City, New York State home last Saturday, 24 June.

Her tour manager, Guy Oseary, shared a statement via Instagram on Wednesday, 28 June, explaining that the “Vogue” hitmaker spent the weekend at a nearby Intensive Care Unit for a “serious bacterial infection”, but will make a “full recovery” while at home. All future commitments will be on pause until then.

Another source told an international news outlet that Madonna is now “in the clear” as she is “feeling better and following doctors’ orders.”

The insider also confided that the pop icon had apparently been putting in 12-hour days of practising for what would be her 12th world tour, which would cover her four decades in music.

No new dates for the tour and rescheduled shows have been given yet.
