Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Prince Kaybee Wants R2.5m for Boxing Match

It was the supermodel Linda Evangelista who once said, “I never get out of my bed for less than $10 000 a day” – in the case of Prince Kaybee, he ain’t getting in no boxing ring for less than R2.5 million.

That’s right, folks, R2.5 MILLION smackeroonies.

That’s a lot of money, but he’s not expecting anything less from the camp that’s representing fellow rapper/potential opponent, Cassper Nyovest.

“If there was a good number, I would get in the ring,” Kaybee said during the 27 June episode of “The POPcast”. “It’s not a good number. Cassper’s team sent an email to my team saying something like R500 000. I’m not going to get in the ring for R500 000.”

Although he claimed there’s no real beef between him and Nyovest, he still insisted on a high paycheck.

“Even when we go to the ring, I’m not going to take it that seriously. But if we are going to do it, let’s do it the proper way. Give me what I want … For me to get out of my house, R2.5 million.”

Over on Twitter, Mzansi tweeps thought Kaybee was overpricing himself:

@RichMmane tried to defend him, but others insisted that he was looking for a quick buck plus promote his music at the same time:

Peeps also tried to recall whether or not Kaybee wanted to fight Nyovest for free, while also putting forward the theory that he was asking for more money as a means to back out of the fight:

Meanwhile, tweeps like @BabakaSylvester reckons it’s a win-win situation all around:

And if Kaybee still doesn’t want the smoke, @happylesomo and @ratsela_r are happy to take his place – after all, R500 000 is R500 000:

In and amongst all the snarkery, @Eye_of_the_Star genuinely seemed baffled when posing this question:

Very valid question, bruh.

But hey, we live in an age where even Elon Musk vs. Mark Zuckerberg in a cage fight could become a reality, so long as there’s money!
