Mamelodi Sundowns Beat AmaZulu 2-0

Mamelodi Sundowns retained their top spot in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) rankings following an emphatic 2-0 win over AmaZulu FC on Tuesday, 11 March.

Playing at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, Gauteng, Sundowns kept AmaZulu on their toes by maintaining 65% possession of the ball throughout the match.

After 51 minutes of play, the Brazilians broke the deadlock courtesy of a goal from striker Peter Shalulile, who took advantage of Usuthu shotstopper Veli Mothwa’s absence on the goal line. Additionally, Shalulile scored his 100th goal for the club in the process.

Thirty-six minutes later, Shalulile’s teammate, Arthur Sales, doubled the lead with a neat shot that found the back of the net.

As a result of their 2-0 victory, Mamelodi Sundowns continue to occupy first place in the PSL rankings with an impressive 58 points. Meanwhile, AmaZulu FC are sitting in seventh place with 30 points.

Can Sundowns continue their winning ways when they face off against second-placed Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, Gauteng this Sunday, 16 March? As always, watch this space!
