Man United’s Chido Obi Excluded from Europa League Squad

Manchester United forward, Chido Obi, will not be part of the squad that will face Real Sociedad in their UEFA Europa League Round of 16 match.
This Thursday, 6 March, the Red Devils are set to take on La Real on the latter’s home turf of Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastian, Spain.
At just 17-years-old, Obi impressed fans and pundits alike during his third senior team appearance as a substitute in United’s FA Cup match against Fulham last Sunday, 2 March.
Despite his significant talent, the Danish international will be unable to participate in the upcoming match against Real Sociedad due to his ineligibility for the tournament.
According to reports, Obi joined Man United’s Academy in October 2024. Due to his young age and limited senior experience at that time, the club chose not to register him in their Europa League squad following the group stage.
Additionally, he does not qualify for the squad’s B-list – which is usually reserved for young players – as UEFA regulations stipulate that players must have been with the club for at least two years.
With continued development, we hope to see Chido Obi participating in Europa League matches in the near future!
