Man United’s Martial Might Miss Rest of EPL Season
Manchester United are facing a huge setback after forward Anthony Martial injured his knee while on international duty recently.
The 25-year-old French forward sustained the persisting injury halfway through France’s match with Kazakhstan on Sunday, 28 March.
Following his team’s 2-1 victory over Brighton on Sunday, 4 April, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – head coach of Manchester United – confirmed in an interview the reason behind Martial’s absence from the match.
Solskjaer explained: “Unfortunately, he’s sprained his knee with France. It’s always when they go away on internationals, you’ve fingers crossed and you hope that they’re going to come back fit.”
He added: “Losing [Martial] for what might be the rest of the [English Premier League] season is very disappointing, especially when the reports and signals from there are that it wasn’t serious but it looks [like] a bad one, yeah.”
It is also unclear at this stage if the forward will be a certainty for France’s squad at the delayed 2020 UEFA Euro Championship, which starts in June.
