Marshall Munetsi Joins Wolverhampton Wanderers
Former Orlando Pirates midfielder, Marshall Munetsi, has signed with English Premier League (EPL) club, Wolverhampton Wanderers.
On Tuesday, 4 February, it was revealed that Munetsi – who had been plying his trade with French outfit, Stade de Reims – had joined Wolves on a three-year contract worth R386 million.
An official statement on Wolves’ website announced: “The Zimbabwe international, whose contract includes a further 12-month option, joins having played 159 games for Reims, 67 of which came alongside another of Wolves’ January signings, Emmanuel Agbadou.
“The 28-year-old, who is capable of playing in a number of midfield roles, spent the early part of his career in South Africa, representing Ubuntu Cape Verde, Baroka and Orlando Pirates. It was while playing for the Pirates in 2018 that Munetsi made his Zimbabwe debut … and in that same year, he helped his country to the COSAFA Cup.”
Reports indicate that Munetsi’s contract will see him earn R1 million per week in the EPL.
“I’m delighted. It’s a dream come true for me,” Munetsi gushed about the move. “I’ve always wanted to be part of something big, and being part of Wolves is something that is very big for me and is big for my family.”
