Nasreddine Nabi: I’m Not Here for The Money

Kaizer Chiefs coach, Nasreddine Nabi, has hit back at critics who have lambasted his management style.

Since being appointed head coach of Amakhosi last July, Nabi has been criticised for doing little to improve the club’s overall performance, suffering more losses than victories.

This includes a 1-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, 1 March, leading critics to double down on their disparagement of the 59-year-old Tunisian manager. Some have even gone so far as to suggest that he remains at the club due to his reportedly substantial salary.

Following Chiefs’ loss to Sundowns, Nabi clapped back at his naysayers in a post-match press conference, saying: “Sometimes there are people that don’t want the process to succeed, and the best way is to criticise the coach, and the coach gets fired, then the process is going to start from zero again.”

He added that, despite increasing interest from other clubs for his services, he remains committed to Amakhosi.

“I’m not here for the money,” he stated. “People talk too much in the media. My salary, I don’t talk [about it], I promise you. Every three days, I have a proposition [from] big clubs. Three times than [the] salary I receive here.

“I have a mission here with Kaizer Chiefs, and I have big respect for the mission. I’m not here for the money, and I love this club and I’m strong, and I don’t lose my confidence quickly because I’m strong.”
