Pirates Dominance Intensifies Title Race

Orlando Pirates delivered a statement performance on Tuesday night, dismantling Golden Arrows 5-0 at the Orlando Stadium.

The victory, fueled by braces from Relebohile Mofokeng and Oswin Appollis, keeps the Buccaneers just two points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with seven games remaining.

The match belonged to Mofokeng, whose performance sparked claims that he may move abroad after the upcoming World Cup.

Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou praised the clinical display, noting the team’s evolution: “A lot of people think that maybe it was a little bit of luck against TS Galaxy. But we can see that… our boys start to be efficient in the last third.”

The coach also highlighted the atmospheric support, stating, “When we feel the support of our fans, the players can fly.”

Despite the heavy defeat, Golden Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi remained focused on the broader competition. While some fans jokingly suggested Mngqithi’s struggles might lead a future club to the “Motsepe League,” the coach himself was full of praise for the title race:  “I like the competition that Pirates have brought into the championship.”

Mamelodi Sundowns currently sit on top of the table with 56 points, while Pirates are close behind with 54.
