PSL Championship Beckons for Mamleodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns are on the cusp of bagging their 15th Premier Soccer League (PSL) title after beating Stellenbosch FC 3-0 on Sunday afternoon, 11 May.
The reigning PSL champions took on Stellies in Betway Premiership action at the former’s home turf of Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, Gauteng, and it was clear from the get-go that the Brazilians were locked in for the win.
Returning to the starting line-up following a five-match drought, forward Lucas Ribeiro gave Sundowns their first goal – and proved his mettle in the process – with an indirect free-kick in the sixth minute.
The score doubled merely six minutes later when teammate Iqraam Rayners breached Stellies’ defences with a quickfire shot into the back of the net.
The final goal was scored in the 18th minute by forward Arthur Sales, thus giving Sundowns an emphatic 3-0 victory.
With this match in the bag, Mamelodi Sundowns remain in first place on the PSL standings with 67 points; this means that they are one point away from lifting the league trophy.
To attain this valuable point, they will need to defeat either Chippa United on Wednesday, 14 May, or Magesi FC this Saturday, 17 May.
