PSL General Manager in Court Over Fraud Charges

Premier Soccer League General Manager Andile “Ace” Ncobo and his wife, Salomie Twaise Ncobo, appeared in the Bellville Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Monday, 5 May.
He faces three charges of fraud and money laundering exceeding R15 million.
The charges relate to donations made by PetroSA to support school infrastructure projects in the Eastern Cape. The State alleges that the couple submitted forged documents, including trust deeds and donor letters, to secure R13 million for Gangatha Junior Secondary School.
The funds were allegedly channelled into unregistered entities such as Gangatha Projects and the King’s Gangatha Building Trust, all controlled by the 58-year-old former FIFA referee.
PetroSA, misled by the submissions, disbursed the funds under its Corporate Social Investment programme. However, quantity surveyors found the completed work to be substandard – valued at R5.9 million, with nearly R400 000 required for remedial work.
Further allegations include a separate R485 000 payment for a new preschool initiative in 2008 – managed by Ncobo’s wife – where neither furniture nor educational equipment was ever delivered. The listed board members denied involvement and had approved the investment.
The National Prosecuting Authority stated that funds were laundered through multiple accounts linked to fabricated or unregistered entities, with Ncobo having full control over at least one of them.
Bail was set at R50 000 for Ncobo and R30 000 for his wife. The case resumes on 29 May.
