Quiteria Kekana Accused of Body-Shaming

Television presenter, Lesego Tlhabi, has called out local fashion designer, Quiteria Kekana, for allegedly body-shaming her.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, 24 February, the “Trending SA” host shed light on a dress fitting that took place earlier that day, with Kekana – his identity initially undisclosed – in attendance.

Tlhabi wrote: “Does he not then declare very loudly in the store after a failed try-on that he has nothing for me & then uses words like ‘fatty boom boom’ to describe how I’d look in the designs [sic].”

She added: “I was made to feel like less than nothing today because of my body. My body is not good enough for his dresses & [sic] he let that … be known.”

Later that day, Tlhabi named Kekana as the body-shaming designer in question, tweeting: “I will never ever wear something from [his store].”

Kekana has since denied Tlhabi’s claims, adding that he is “not going to release an apology to anyone, at any given moment.”
