Radebe on Johnson: You Have to Give Him Time
Former Kaizer Chiefs legend, Lucas Radebe, is confident that head coach Cavin Johnson will do right by the club if he is just given space to perform.
So far into his coaching tenure, Johnson – who replaced under-fire manager Molefi Ntseki last month – has lost two out of three games. The Chiefs’ most recent defeat came on 11 November at the hands of rivals Orlando Pirates, who beat them 1-0.
Speaking to a local soccer outlet on Tuesday, 21 November, Radebe showed his support for Johnson.
“We can’t judge him with one game,” the 54-year-old legend remarked. “There are so many games. You have to give him time. The season is still longer.”
Radebe also commented on the impact that Johnson has on the players: “He is a proper model in terms of being a father figure … I can see the players respect him; not only the players, but everyone. The appreciation is there despite the pressure and the expectations.
“Cavin has a big task, but there are a lot of expectations from inside and outside. He can do as good as he can.”
