Ramovic Reveals Explicit Call From Mokwena
TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic has lifted the lid on an explicit phone call he received from Mamelodi Sundowns boss, Rhulani Mokwena.
Fans will recall that Galaxy knocked Sundowns out of the Carling Knockout first round last October. Mokwena chalked this loss up to missing seven players who were part of the South African national men’s team that played in the recent AFCON tournament, but Ramovic labelled this as an “excuse”.
On 29 December, Ramovic was travelling with his team to Mbombela when he received the cuss-laden call from Mokwena.
“I picked up the phone, and he started to yell and scream,” the 44-year-old German told reporters at a pre-match conference on Thursday, 22 February. “He told me he would make it short, but talked for 10 minutes or entertained me with a lot of nonsense.
“What he said to me was, ‘Who the f*** are you to come to my f***ing country and talk to me like this. Do you know who my parents are? Be careful how you talk because you are in my f***ing country’ … I was very disappointed [by this treatment].”
Mokwena – who is away in Mauritania as Sundowns to face FC Nouadhibou tomorrow, Saturday 24 February – says he will respond to Ramovic’s allegations when they return to South Africa.
For now, Ramovic is focused on the Rockets’ Nedbank Cup clash against Lamontville Golden Arrows at Mpumalanga Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal tonight, Friday 23 February.
