Rodri Wins Top Ballon d’Or Award

Manchester City midfielder, Rodri, has clinched the most prestigious honour at the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

In recognition of his top-scoring performances, the 28-year-old Spaniard won the trophy for Best Men’s Player of the Year at the glittering soccer award ceremony held at Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France on Monday, 28 October.

After joining City in July 2019, Rodri scored nine goals across all competitions for the club last season. In the process, he helped them win their fourth successive English Premier League trophy.

Rodri was also part of the Spanish national men’s team that won the UEFA EURO 2024 tournament back in July. For his impressive performances, he was named Player of the Tournament by the football governing body.

“[This is] a very special day for me, my family and my country,” the star player said in his acceptance speech.

“Today is not a victory for me: it is for Spanish football, for so many players who have not won it and have deserved it, like [Andres] Iniesta, Xavi [Hernandez], Iker [Casillas], Sergio Busquets, so many others. It is for Spanish football, and for the figure of the midfielder.”

Congratulations to Rodri on this stunning achievement!
