Ruben Amorim Denies Liverpool Agreement Reports
Ruben Amorin is adamant that he is not replacing Jurgen Klopp as the head coach of Liverpool.
For the past few weeks, reports have emerged that the 39-year-old Sporting CP manager is the leading candidate to replace Klopp, who is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
Most recently, European outlets claimed that Amorin’s agent, Raul Costa, met with the English club on Tuesday, 9 April, and they had reached a “verbal agreement in principle” for his client’s services.
However, during a pre-match press conference on Thursday, 11 April, Amorin strongly denied that he was heading for Anfield anytime soon.
“There’s been no interview with any club, no agreement with any club,” he said. “This is the last time I’m going to talk about my future.
“The only thing we all want here is to be champions with Sporting; nothing will change. I’m the Sporting coach, and there was no interview or agreement with any club. I’m just focused, as always, on representing my club.”
For now, Amorin’s focus is on leading Sporting to victory over Gil Vicente in their Liga Primeira match tonight, Friday 12 April.
