Sentencing for Tory Lanez in Megan Thee Stallion Trial Delayed

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has agreed to give Tory Lanez’s defence team more time to prepare for sentencing, they announced on Tuesday, 13 June.

While the sentencing for shooting and wounding hip-hop star, Megan Thee Stallion, was expected to take place on the day, Californian Judge David Herriford accepted the defence’s request for more time to prepare their sentencing recommendation.

The defence attorneys will need to have their recommendations ready by 1 August, while the official sentencing will take place on 7 August, after all parties involved have had time to review the documents.

Lanez – known privately as Daystar Peterson – was found guilty in December last year for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion – whose real name is Megan Pete – and convicted for three felonies: assault with a semi-automatic firearm; having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

Pete was said to have been in a verbal argument with Peterson in July 2020, while the two were on their way back from a party together.

During the argument, Peterson allegedly said, “Dance, b**** ” as he fired a semi-automatic weapon towards her feet. Pete reportedly needed surgery to remove bullet fragments from her feet.
