Sorry, Sundowns: Pule Staying Put at Pirates
Mamelodi Sundowns are looking to expand their midfield options, but the star they’re eyeing appears to be staying put at his current club.
According to reports, Sundowns are keen on signing winger Vincent Pule, who has been signed to the Buccaneers since 2018 and, to date, has scored 15 goals in 47 appearances for them.
Despite Orlandos placing a heavy R10-million-price-tag on Pule, it seemed apparent that the Brazilians were prepared to shell out the cash.
Now, however, one local media outlet reports that the Bucs are no longer considering selling the 32-year-old winger.
“The Chloorkop-based outfit made an inquiry on the availability of the former Bidvest Wits talisman,” the report reads, “and following several days of behind-the-scenes conversations about the possibility of a transfer, the Buccaneers decided against selling one of their key assets in January.”
Here’s hoping Pirates will change their mind in the future – at this moment in time, Pule is struggling for gametime under coach Jose Riveira, and the club could benefit from using the funds generated from his sale to perhaps buy another player.
