Sundowns Extend Winning Streak to 11 Games
Coach Rhulani Mokwena is more than entitled to feel pleased after Mamelodi Sundowns won their 11th consecutive match in a row.
The Brazilians extended their winning streak after garnering a hard-fought, 1-0 victory over SuperSport United at Loftus Versveld on Monday night, 16 January.
As a result, they have 43 points altogether on the Premier Soccer League table, where they reign supreme at first place.
Mokwena praised his men’s performance, especially against a strong team like SuperSport.
“As always, I will congratulate the team, the players, very proud of their gallant effort,” he said.
“[SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt] can say he has got no ambition to win the league title, but for sure [his club] had … and they knew that they had to push us and push us so they didn’t come here to sit back. When you play against a coach who has won four league titles, he hasn’t won those four league titles by chance.”
Mamelodi Sundowns are scheduled to take on Kaizer Chiefs this Saturday, 21 January – here’s hoping for a 12th victory!
