Top European Club Eyeing Etiosa Ighodaro
Mamelodi Sundowns striker, Etiosa Ighodaro, has attracted interest from a major European club.
According to reports, Belgian outfit Club Brugge KV are keen to attain the services of the 22-year-old Nigerian international, who is currently on loan to SuperSport United.
Speaking to a local soccer outlet recently, a source claimed that Brugge see Ighodaro as a perfect replacement for forward Igor Thiago, who is moving to FC Brentford at the end of the season.
“[Brugge] have identified Ighodaro as the rightful replacement for [Thiago],” the source explained. “I can’t go into details, but a deal could be done in the off-season if the clubs agree on their demands. It could be a good move for the player, and Sundowns could make a few million in the deal as it stands.”
Ighodaro’s contract with Sundowns is set to expire on 30 June 2025. However, he could find himself playing in Europe sooner rather than later if both clubs come to a financial agreement in the upcoming summer transfer window.
