UEFA Champions League: Previewing Matchday 7

Next Tuesday, 21 January, three of the top four ranked teams in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) will take to the field for Matchday 7!

Log leaders Liverpool are set to play against eighth-placed Lille at Anfield in England. With an impressive start to the 2024/25 English Premier League season – bolstered by the outstanding form of forward Mohamed Salah – the home side is expected to secure a victory against the French club.

Meanwhile, second-placed Barcelona will go up against Benfica – who are currently in 15th place – at Estádio da Luz in Lisbon, Portugal. After a 0-0 UCL draw against Bologna last month, Benfica will need to pull out all the stops to overcome the formidable Spanish side.

As for fourth-placed Bayer 04 Leverkusen, they are scheduled to meet 11th-placed Atlético de Madrid at Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Spain. With three UCL victories each and four draws, it remains uncertain who will triumph in their 11th meeting – as such, fans can expect a hard-fought game that could go either way.

Overall, it looks like a thrilling day of football ahead, with potential for key developments in the standings!
