UEFA Conference League: Chelsea Awaits Opponent
Chelsea are scheduled to face either one of two clubs in the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League play-off round later this month.
On Monday, 5 August, the draw for the play-off round took place in Nyon, Switzerland. As a result, Chelsea will be up against the team that loses in the third qualifying round match between FC Braga and Servette FC.
Braga and Servette are set to compete against each other this Thursday, 8 August; they will meet again next Thursday, 15 August.
On 22 August, the loser of the third qualifying round will clash with the Blues at the latter’s homeground of Stamford Bridge in London, England.
Of the two teams, Braga have the strongest possibility of winning against Servette: per Chelsea’s website, the Portuguese club “have the fourth-highest UEFA co-efficient of any team involved in today’s draw” behind the Blues, Ajax and Fiorentina.
On the other hand, Servette are coming off a hot season in the Swiss Cup, which they won back in June, which makes them a formidable opponent as they look to build on their recent success.
Will Chelsea take on Braga in the play-off round on 22 August, or could they find themselves playing against Servette? As always, watch this space!
