Wednesday Gaming – Level Zero: Extraction, Fortnite x Mortal Kombat and MORE!

Catch up on the latest news, rumours and announcements from the world of video games, tech and entertainment:

– Multiplayer shooter game, “Level Zero: Extraction”, will no longer receive any updates, just two weeks after the 1.0 version was launched on Steam. According to developer Doghowl Games, it is “no longer feasible for our relatively small teams to sustain the game from a financial standpoint.”

– For now, servers for “Level Zero: Extraction” will stay online and accessible to those who have purchased the game.

– Sub-Zero and Scorpion of “Mortal Kombat” fame are coming to “Fortnite”. A Sub-Zero skin will be available in Chapter 6 Season 2, which begins this Friday, 21 February, and he will be included in the Battle Pass. Meanwhile, a Scorpion skin will be available to purchase from the Item Shop. Weapons and cosmetics based on “Mortal Kombat” are also expected to be made available.

– Speaking of “Mortal Kombat”, data miners have discovered Hara-Kiri animations in the game files of “Mortal Kombat 1”. Despite their similarities to the Hara-Kiri Fatalities introduced in 2004’s “Mortal Kombat: Deception”, the animations are labelled as “Quitalities” in the files, referring to a game-quitting mechanic introduced in “Mortal Kombat X”. This suggests that Quitalities may make a comeback in a future update.

– A new comedic strategy game called “Cthulhu Keeper” is currently being developed for PC by Finnish game developer Kuuasema. Inspired by the works of author H. P. Lovecraft, it will feature otherworldly monsters in a 1920s setting.

Check in again next week for the latest video game news – ’til then, keep up the button-mashing!
