West Ham Suffer Embarrassing 6-0 Home Defeat to Arsenal
A merciless Arsenal thrashed their hosts West Ham United 6-0 yesterday, Sunday 11 February.
Stormy skies at London Stadium in England set the perfect backdrop for the challenge, as the two teams kicked off in the late afternoon.
Gunners defender, William Saliba, broke the tense stalemate at the 32nd-minute mark with an assist from his teammate, Declan Rice. It turned out to be the point that would open the floodgates, as several more followed in quick succession.
Just nine minutes later, striker Bukayo Saka took advantage of a penalty shot to claim a second point for their side. The spectacular goal inspired Saka’s teammates, as defender Gabriel Magalhães scored the third point in the 44th minute.
Forward Leandro Trossard ensured Arsenal went into the half-time break with four goals in their pocket in the 47th minute.
Hammers fans gave their grim predictions for the rest of the match as they filed out of the stadium, refusing to stay to watch the embarrassment any further.
Saka further extended his side’s lead in the second half with a low shot into the bottom right corner of the goal at the 63rd-minute mark. Two minutes later, Rice drove the final nail into the coffin as his teammate, Ben White, played a vital support role by passing the ball at just the right moment.
