Who Will Win Footballer of the Season Award?

As the 2024–25 Premier Soccer League campaign comes to a close, anticipation builds around the prestigious Footballer of the Season award. With standout performances across the league, a few names have risen to the top of the shortlist.

Lucas Ribeiro (Mamelodi Sundowns)

Ribeiro has been a revelation for Sundowns this season, scoring 16 league goals and consistently threatening defences with his explosive pace and intelligent movement. Coach Manqoba Mngqithi even declared him “probably at the top of the list” for the award.

Iqraam Rayners (Stellenbosch FC)

Rayners has proven to be one of the league’s sharpest forwards, netting 14 times in the campaign and earning a call-up to Bafana Bafana. His consistency in front of goal helped Stellenbosch challenge top-tier teams and brought him well-deserved recognition.

Teboho Mokoena (Mamelodi Sundowns)

Mokoena, the reigning PSL Player of the Season, remains a midfield dynamo. His vision, passing range, and ability to control the tempo make him a strong repeat contender for the accolade.

Patrick Maswanganyi (Orlando Pirates)

The Pirates’ playmaker has impressed with his creativity and flair, linking midfield to attack with composure and precision.

The PSL Awards ceremony has been postponed, due to Mamelodi Sundowns’ competing in both the CAF Champions League final and the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, with fixtures from late May through early July.
