Yvonne Chaka Chaka Furious over Fake Death News
South African iconic singer and songwriter, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, is angered by the online fake news articles announcing her death and asking Mzansi to contribute towards her burial.
The award-winning musician is the latest victim of fraudsters’ attempts to extort money from people in the so-called name of burial contribution.
Chaka Chaka took to social media on Monday, 19 April, to expose the GoFundMe page created to raise funds for her funeral expenses.
The musician posted a screenshot of an article written: “Yvonne Chaka Chaka Death/Obituary. We grieve with the family of Yvonne Chaka Chaka, we see how demoralizing [sic] they could be at this moment.”
She wrote in the caption: “Some FOOL posted my Obituary and even asked people to contribute in a go fund me acc. For my burial. How mean can you be [sic].”
Many Twitter users were also left angry, and have advised the singer to get law enforcement involved.
One user said: “It’s about time that the law coerce the banks to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and disclose the administrators of such accounts as surely the banks are privy to/about the owners of such accounts.”
