Marumo Gallants Boot Coach Phuti Mohafe

After less than three months at the helm, Phuti Mohafe has been sacked as the head coach of Marumo Gallants FC.

On 21 June, Gallants announced that Mohafe would replace Jamil Benouahi as their coach. Musa Bilankulu served as Mohafe’s assistant.

According to a club statement released on Wednesday, 9 September, both Mohafe and Bilankulu are no longer part of the club’s coaching staff.

“Marumo Gallants FC confirms that the club has parted ways with head coach Phuti Mohafe and assistant coach Musa Bilankulu with immediate effect,” the statement reads. “The Club will not be commenting further on the circumstances surrounding the decision or engaging on the merits of the matter.”

While Gallants search for a new manager, second assistant coach Trevor Mathiane will serve as the team’s coach on an interim basis.

Under Mohafe’s management, the North West outfit played five matches in the 2026/2027 Betway Premiership season, recording three losses and two draws. As such, they are sitting in 14th place with two points in the Premier Soccer League rankings, hovering just two spots above the relegation zone.
