Agent: Rivaldo Coetzee Planning Comeback in August

Free agent Rivaldo Coetzee could be ready to join a new club in August.

After spending seven seasons at Mamelodi Sundowns – for whom he scored two goals in 133 appearances – Coetzee’s contract with the Brazilians expired on 30 June 2025.

Over the course of this stint, the 28-year-old midfielder was plagued by various injuries that hindered his playing time, including an undisclosed affliction he sustained back in January. This likely prompted Sundowns’ decision to not renew his contract.

According to Rivaldo’s agent, Mike Makaab, his client’s comeback will coincide with the start of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season, which kicks off on 8 August.

“I think the first thing you need to remember is that Rivaldo left Sundowns with an injury, but he has made big progress and he should be ready by August,” Makaab told a local soccer outlet on Sunday, 20 July.

“There is interest in the player, but at the moment, nothing has been [made] official. We hope that we will find a club for him sooner rather than later.”

Earlier this month, Makaab claimed that “a number of clubs” were in talks with Coetzee, although it is unclear whether these talks have progressed or stalled.
