Aguero Set to join Argentina for World Cup
Former Barcelona forward, Sergio Aguero, is reportedly in talks with Argentina’s team manager, Lionel Scaloni, about joining his backroom staff ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
The 33-year-old Argentine international was forced off the field during Barcelona’s 1-1 draw against Alaves on Saturday, 31 October 2021, after complaining of chest pains, breathing difficulties, and dizziness.
In December 2021, Aguero was forced into an early retirement after being diagnosed with a heart problem.
Despite not being able to represent his national team on the field, the Man City legend believes he can still help Argentina to lift the trophy in a different role.
He said: “I want to go to the World Cup, I spoke to Scaloni. He called me and the lads as well.
We are looking to have a meeting and see what can be done. There is the idea that I could be a part of the backroom staff.”
Aguero also gave an update on his recovery, saying that he has had a chip inserted to monitor his heart, although he is still not able to play a football game without running out of breath.
