Aphasia Forces Bruce Willis, 67, into Retirement
Bruce Willis is stepping away from the limelight after being diagnosed with aphasia.
On Wednesday, 30 March, Willis’ family – including his ex-wife, actress Demi Moore, and his second wife Emma Hemming-Willis – revealed on Instagram that the 67-year-old “Die Hard” star was retiring from acting due to his condition.
“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities,” their statements read.
Aphasia is a language disorder which affects a person’s ability to express and understand both written and spoken language.
According to reports, Willis had been suffering from cognitive issues since 2020 while filming “American Siege” and “Hard Kill”.
The statements continued: “With much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him. This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support.
“As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up’, and together we plan to do just that.”
