Arteta Apologises for Arsenal’s “Unacceptable” Performance
Mikel Arteta has issued an apology to fans following Arsenal’s “unacceptable” performance against Crystal Palace on Monday evening, 4 April.
The Gunners dropped from fourth place to fifth place on the English Premier League (EPL) rankings after the Eagles thumped them 3-0 at Selhurst Park Stadium.
Tottenham Hotspur currently occupy fourth place on the EPL table, with Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea taking the top three spots, respectively.
After their defeat, Arteta lamented about his men’s performance in an interview.
“You have to be physical and run and then you earn the right to play,” he rued. “We were really inconsistent on the ball and that is unacceptable. We were poor, especially in the first half. I apologise to our supporters.
“We didn’t have the presence today or the composure to dominate the situation so that is what I’m most annoyed with,” the Spaniard continued. “Some days you are not there and you are late all the time. [Crystal Palace] got on top of it and had a good atmosphere, and we could not get out.”
Here’s hoping Arsenal can regain their footing when they face off against Brighton this Saturday, 9 April.
