BANTU Set to Tour Germany
BANTU, a 13-piece band from Nigeria, will soon be embarking on a tour across Germany.
“It’s Tour o’clock, fam! We’ll be hitting the road this month for our highly anticipated tour!” the musical collective announced via Instagram last Friday, 24 May.
“Get ready for an unforgettable experience as we take the stage in a city near you,” the post continued, with the tour starting on Friday, 31 May, in Stralsund.
So far, ten dates have been announced across nine cities including Münster, Cologne and Berlin. According to sources, more performances will be announced, however fans have already begun commenting on the group’s social media pages, encouraging them to visit more cities.
The band has a tight connection to the European country, as the current bandleader Ade Bantu co-founded the outfit in Cologne with his brother, Abiodun, in 1996.
BANTU stands for “Brotherhood Alliance Navigating Towards Unity” – an acronym and philosophy the group holds dear as they fight against a variety of issues that dominate the world, including corruption, injustice, migration, xenophobia and urban alienation.
Speaking proudly on Instagram, the band has “carved out a truly unique sound, blending the infectious rhythms of Afrobeat, the funky grooves of Afrofunk, and the rich traditions of Yoruba music.”
