Burna Boy, Rema Earn iHeart Radio Accolades

Nigerian singers Burna Boy and Rema were both honoured at the 2024 iHeart Radio Music Awards on Monday, 1 April.

The glitzy proceedings took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, with artists from around the world coming together to celebrate one of the most important nights on the music industry’s calendar.

Rema’s hit single, “Calm Down”, featuring Selena Gomez won the “Best Collaboration of the Year”. The catchy song received several accolades last year, including a Trace Academy award, an MTV award, and an inaugural Billboard Afrobeats award, amongst others.

Burna Boy also managed to beat some of the hottest African acts to be handed the title of “Best African Music Artist”. The “City Boys” hitmaker surpassed other well-known icons like Tems, Tyla, and Wizkid to earn the recognition.

The two Nigerian icons weren’t the only musicians to walk away with silverware last night. The K-pop genre broke out onto the scene, with several Korean stars like Jung Kook and NewJeans being honoured for their creations.

However, it was SZA who had the biggest evening of all, walking away with trophies for multiple categories, including the final prize of the night: Song of the Year for “Kill Bill”.
