Celeb Twitter Round-Up: All’s Well Between David Kau and Gayton McKenzie
Well, it looks like the bad blood simmering between comedian David Kau and minister Gayton McKenzie has finally cooled down!
Previously, Kau took to Twitter/X to criticise McKenzie – who heads up South Africa’s Ministry of Sports, Arts and Culture – for appearing to support athletes exclusively, while neglecting members of the entertainment industry, particularly comedians like himself.
“We have employed hundreds of people without any government assistance, but we would appreciate a meeting,” the popular funnyman had written. “Please advise who to contact to have a meeting with you.”
In response, an unimpressed McKenzie claimed that he was one of Kau’s biggest backers, having attended all his comedy shows and buying up loads of tickets in order to support him.
This led to Kau tweeting out this apology on Tuesday, 20 August:
