Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Kwesta Unleashes “Quantham” on Big Zulu
Big Zulu really got South Africa’s hip-hop stars in their feelings after he took shots (mostly personal) at them in his diss track, “150 Bars” – and now, Kwesta has retaliated against him with his own single.
Nearly a week after the release of “150 Bars”, Kwesta dropped a link to “Quantham” on his Twitter feed on Wednesday, 24 August:
And if tweeps’ reactions are anything to go by, “Quantham”(First Load) brings all the fire, oil and logs.
Indeed, the beat is hard-hitting and so are the lyrics: Kwesta basically tells Big Zulu not to mess with him, the “God” of SA hip-hop, that he’s “in the league where you don’t even rank”, and that “my leftovers changed your life.”
As if that wasn’t enough, he also shaded Big Zulu over his claim to fame, essentially saying that Duduzane Zuma (the controversial son of former president Jacob Zuma) was the one to give him his big break when there was no other option.
Of course, Mzansi tweeps are basking in all this heat and partaking in the sacrificial lamb that is Big Zulu:
They also gave Kwesta his flowers:
@NduduzoMdletsh4 and @PdotO_SA reminded everyone that fire lyricists can also drop fire bars, and Kwesta is one of (the few of) them:
Now, the peeps can’t wait for other rappers like Duncan and Cassper Nyovest to retaliate as well:
What a good time to be a hip-hop fan in South Africa, folks!
