Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Tyla Channels Inner Michael Jackson with Chimp Pics

If you’re a musician, then you’ll probably think that it’s a huge compliment to be compared to the late, great Michael Jackson.

South Africa’s own Tyla was recently compared to MJ – but not in terms of talent and showmanship, though!

On Sunday, 14 December, the 23-year-old “CHANEL” hitmaker inexplicably shared two pics of her holding a chimpanzee on Twitter/X:

Accompanying the pics was a simple nervous/confounded emoji, which did little to explain the context.

This immediately prompted fans to compare Tyla to the King of Pop, who famously owned a pet chimp named Bubbles:

Other folks were little less flattering, comparing the chimp to Nigerian singer-songwriter, Burna Boy:

Geez, guys, rude, much? You know, if not borderline racist?

So far, Tyla hasn’t elaborated on how and why these pics came to be. Whether it’s a sign of a collaboration to come or purely weird yet hilarious hijinks that she wanted to share, it’s got folks out here talking.

To paraphrase MJ, it ain’t nobody’s monkey business but Tyla’s!
