Chippa Coach Plays Down “Simple” Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns are cutting a clear path to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) title, but Chippa United coach, Morgan Mammila, has played down their abilities.

Coming fresh off a 2-0 victory over Richards Bay FC on Friday, 6 January, Sundowns are sitting pretty at the top of the PSL rankings with 37 points. Trailing behind are SuperSport United (27), Richards Bay (26), and out-of-steam Kaizer Chiefs (24).

However, Mammila is confident that they will be easy for Chippa to take on – and potentially win against.

“Sundowns are the simplest team to play against, very simple,” he remarked in a recent interview. “Very easy team to play against, but the only difference is that they are mastering the system. That’s the only difference.

“Let’s be honest: go and watch Sundowns. When they lose the ball, there’s no star. All of them are behind the ball.”

Chippa United and Mamelodi Sundowns will go head-to-head on Tuesday night, 10 January – only then will fans see if Mammila’s sentiments ring true!
