David Guetta Compares Ayra Starr to Rihanna

Renowned electronic music producer David Guetta is singing the praises of Nigerian icon, Ayra Starr.

“When people speak about Ayra Starr in the [music] industry, a lot of us see her as the new Rihanna,” Guetta said during an interview with a Nigerian radio station on Monday, 4 December.

The pair came together with American rapper Lil Durk to collaborate on the catchy new single, “Big FU”, which was released in October. However, it seems like Guetta is unlikely to forget Ayra Starr, who he believes will become an unstoppable force soon.

“Since we recorded, she has had even more hits. It’s crazy. I’m French. I was in Paris and everyone was talking about her,” the Grammy award-winning producer added.

Guetta later went on to explain: “I was shocked like, ‘This is amazing. An African artiste that’s killing it in Europe, killing it in the U.S., it’s not every day [sic]. Last time I saw it, [I] was working with Akon.’”

As Guetta has worked with several industry titans over the years – including Bebe Rexha, Sia, and Kelly Rowland, just to name a few – it’s clear that he knows how to spot talent when he sees it.
