Erik ten Hag’s Future Teetering on the Edge
Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, may learn about his future with the club this week.
The 54-year-old Dutchman’s contract will expire next year, but after a dismal performance in the current English Premier League (EPL) season – in which the club slipped down to eighth place on the log – Man United management has been honest about their search for better prospects.
Former Bayern Munich and Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel, was believed to have been high on the list of possible candidates, until Sir Jim Ratcliffe held exploratory discussions with him in France last week.
However, sources have told several publications that Tuchel has ruled himself out of the job as he is planning to take a sabbatical.
Man U still have other cards up their sleeve, as Ratcliffe is believed to be considering several other options, including ex-Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Frank from Brentford, and Graham Potter who previously coached the Blues.
The club will need to act quickly, as the EPL transfer window will officially open on Friday, 14 June, and a new manager will most likely want to carefully select their players for the next season.
