Europa League Returns TODAY

The UEFA Europa League kicks off today, Wednesday 25 September, with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Roma eager to redeem themselves after challenging domestic starts.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United face FC Twente at Old Trafford in Manchester, England, with the Dutch manager emphasising the importance of proactive, dynamic football.

After guiding United to Football Association Cup glory last season, Ten Hag is keen to secure another European trophy, with the Red Devils aiming for their first Europa League title since 2017.

Tottenham Hotspur, under Ange Postecoglou, also begin their campaign, hosting Qarabağ tomorrow. With a strong desire to end their 17-year trophy drought, Spurs view this competition as an ideal opportunity to achieve silverware.

Postecoglou’s men bounced back from recent league losses with a win against Brentford, and they will hope to carry that momentum into Europe.

Meanwhile, Roma, under José Mourinho, face Athletic Bilbao at Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy on the same day.

Despite their recent European success, tensions are high following the controversial dismissal of manager Daniele De Rossi. Mourinho’s side will be looking to channel their off-pitch turmoil into a strong performance as they seek another deep run in the competition.
