Gabby Petito’s Fiance’s Cause of Death Revealed

One month after his remains were discovered, it has been revealed that Brian Laundrie committed suicide.

In June, Laundrie and his fiancee, “van life” vlogger Gabby Petito, set out on a cross-country trip. On 1 September, however, he returned home to North Port, Florida without Petito.

He then disappeared on 14 September; five days later, Petito’s remains were found at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. The cause of death was strangulation.

On Tuesday, 23 November, an attorney for Laundrie’s family confirmed that he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. Per the medical examiner’s office, they used dental comparison, skeletal reconstruction and DNA analysis to confirm his identity and cause of death.

The news comes after the remains of the 23-year-old – who became a “person of interest” in the Petito investigation – were discovered on 20 October at the T. Mabry Carlton Jr. Memorial Reserve in Venice, Florida.

Laundrie’s family plan to have his remains cremated while the investigation is likely to continue.
