Haaland Vital in Man City Win Over Bayern Munich
Manchester City have inched closer to their spot in the Champions League semi-finals with a daring 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich on Tuesday, 11 April.
The two teams came head to head at Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England with a tense, evenly-matched first half. Citizens midfielder, Rodri, broke the stalemate between the two teams at the 27th-minute mark, with the help of his team-mate, Bernardo Silva.
Both sides continued to battle it out well into the second half until Silva claimed City’s second goal at the 70th minute, assisted by the quick footwork of forward Erling Haaland.
Just six minutes later, Haaland scored the third and final goal of the match with a pass from centre-back, John Stones. It also happened to be Haaland’s 45th goal for City this season – a new record for any English Premier League player across all competitions.
Man City manager, Pep Guardiola, told the media during the post-match briefing that he was “emotionally destroyed” due to the “demanding game”. However, the tearful manager also admitted that there was room for improvement before their next match.
The Citizens will be taking on Leicester City on Saturday, 15 April, at their home Etihad Stadium.
