Harry Kane Shines in Record-Breaking Performance
Harry Kane delivered an outstanding display of talent during Bayern Munich’s 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb, breaking multiple records along the way on Tuesday, 17 September.
The 31-year-old England captain scored four goals, including a hat-trick of penalties, becoming the highest-scoring English player in UEFA Champions League (UCL) history with 33 goals. In doing so, he surpassed Wayne Rooney’s record of 30 goals in the competition.
Kane’s prolific display at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, marked him as the first English player to net four goals in a single UCL match and the first to score three penalties in one game.
His goals helped Bayern recover from a brief resurgence by Zagreb early in the second half after the Croatian side pulled back two goals.
This performance follows Kane’s recent Bundesliga milestone, where he became the fastest player to reach 50 goal involvements. His form continues to impress, and his contributions are quickly becoming pivotal for the German club, as they aim for European success under manager, Vincent Kompany.
Kane’s clinical finishing and creativity underlined his importance to Bayern since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 for £86.4 million.
