Jamie Spears to Step Down in Conservatorship Case
Things have turned a corner in Britney Spears’ conservatorship fight after her father, Jamie Spears, said he would step down.
Last month, the 39-year-old pop star put into motion a bid to remove Mr Spears from his position as guardian of her $60 million, citing that the whole process was “abusive”.
Now, her father announced on Thursday, 12 August, through his lawyers about his latest intentions, which will put an end to the bitter legal scrap that has been raging for over 13 years.
According to the lawyers’ court filing, it stated: “[Mr Spears] does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests.”
They added finally: “Mr Spears intends to work with the court and his daughter’s new attorney to prepare for an orderly transition to a new conservator.”
The news was welcomed by his daughter’s legal rep, Mathew Rosengart, who called it a “vindication”.
The “Break the Ice” hitmaker has yet to publicly comment on the development.
