Klopp Discusses Permanent Football Exit
Jurgen Klopp has announced he won’t be going back to managing a football side any time soon.
The 57-year-old former Liverpool manager recently ruled out a return to coaching – including offers for the England and US men’s teams – stating, “As of today, that’s it for me as a coach.”
Speaking at the recent German Football Coaches Association meeting in Wuerzburg, Klopp clarified his departure from Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 season was a “general decision” due to exhaustion after more than two decades in management.
“It was just time to step aside and put the whole thing to rest,” he emphasised. “I’m looking for peace and quiet, I’m one hundred percent in the here and now, and I’m enjoying it.”
Despite enjoying retirement for now, Klopp hinted at future involvement in football, albeit not in a coaching capacity: “I’m too young to just play padel tennis and spend time with my grandchildren. I still want to work in football and help people with my experience and contacts.”
Klopp’s illustrious career includes coaching Mainz, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, the latter where he ended a 30-year English Premier League title drought and won the UEFA Champions League.
