Lil Nas X Returns to Social Media

Lil Nas X is back!

The 22-year-old rapper – real name Montero Lamar Hill – had been noticeably absent from social media, having last tweeted on 6 December 2021. In the following week, Lil Nas X announced that he had tested positive for the coronavirus in a handful of tweets that were later deleted, which left his fans even more concerned.

For over three months, his accounts remained quiet, leaving his legions of fans wondering where he was.

Then, on Wednesday, 16 March, the “Old Town Road” hitmaker suddenly tweeted: “Why are people surprised i’ve been away for so long? have y’all really never heard of maternity leave [sic]?”

While teasing new music, he also joked a few minutes later: “I’m so happy i’m back on the internet. i missed me so much [sic].”

His tweets broke the internet understandably, with heaps of memes and congratulations.

Lil Nas X retweeted one fan’s joyful tongue-in-cheek post: “Ever since lil nas x came back i have gotten a girlfriend, a stable job, healthy hobbies that I love to do every day, my family has re-accepted me I to their lives and I’ve been the happiest I’ve been in a long time. I could not have done it without you [sic].”
