Man’s 3-Hour Walk to Work Now Made Easier by Bike

For three hours every morning, young Donte Franklin of Moore, Oklahoma, walked nearly 28 kilometres to Buffalo Wild Wings, where he worked as a cook. After his shift, he would walk the same three hour journey back.

Fortunately for Franklin, a chance meeting with a stranger has improved his life for the better.

After giving Franklin a lift one hot day in June, Michael Lynn – touched by the 20-year-old welding student’s strength and perseverance, as well as by his efforts to financially support his family – shared his story on Facebook.

The post was shared more than 1 000 times, catching the attention of Kerri Collins of My Riding Buddies Oklahoma and Bikers for Elves (MRBO).

With Collins’ help, MRBO gifted Franklin a brand-new bike to aid him on his journey to work.

She explained to a local media outlet: “It just touched me that this man is only 20-years-old and is walking to two different jobs with nothing in the heat. It opened my heart because kids his age don’t do that.”

Additionally, a GoFundMe page was set up in his name; so far, $52 000 has been raised.

Franklin expressed his gratitude for his new fortunes in a recent interview, saying: “I can really help my family with this. It’s just a really good blessing.”
