Mourinho Confirms First Signing at Roma
Jose Mourinho has secured his first signature for AS Roma in time for the 2021/22 season.
The news was confirmed on Monday, 13 July, via the Serie A club’s Twitter account, with an image of the 58-year-old “Special One” and Portuguese keeper, Rui Patricio, shaking hands in a brotherly fashion.
Mourinho managed to bag the 33-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers player for a tidy €11.5 million three-year contract, marking his first sign-up for the Italian side.
In a statement posted on the club’s official website, the new No. 1 jersey holder said: “Roma is a big club and a new challenge and I’m excited to try and help the club achieve its targets.”
Patricio departed Sporting Lisbon for the Wolves in June 2018 to the tune of €18 million, which would last for four years. During this time, he made over 135 appearances, clearing 37 clean sheets and helping the English team qualify for the 2019/20 Europa League.
