Real Madrid Secure Vinicius Junior for Four More Years
Brazilian winger, Vinicius Junior, will officially be staying with Real Madrid until 2027.
The La Liga club announced the good news via Twitter on Tuesday, 31 October, with a video of the 23-year-old forward saying how happy he was to have his contract extended.
“I hope I can continue here for many years, scoring many goals and winning many titles. Thank you very much for the love. Hala Madrid!” Vinicius said cheerfully in the video.
While the youngster originally joined Real Madrid for £38 million as a fresh-faced 18-year-old in 2018, the star’s new release clause has been set to an astonishing £900 million after his numerous successes with the club.
During his tenure with the Spanish team, Vinicius has helped the club win two La Liga titles, two Spanish Super Cups, two Club World Cups, the Copa Del Rey, and the European Super Cup.
However, the football icon is more than just a swift pair of feet. The day before his contract extension was announced, Vinicius was also recognised for his humanitarian work in 2023, when he was given the Socrates Award at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris, France.
During his acceptance speech, he vowed to continue his fight against racism – a problem that has plagued his otherwise stellar career.
