Rooney Blasts United Players Over 5-0 Loss
Former footballer, Wayne Rooney, has aired his disappointment at Manchester United’s players, saying they must “question themselves” after the English Premier League (EPL) side lost 5-0 to Liverpool on Sunday, 24 October. .
Man U boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has taken the majority of the criticism for the Red Devils’ poor form since the start of the 2021/22 season, even after bringing back star player Cristiano Ronaldo in August.
However, Rooney has come out to defend the beleaguered 48-year-old manager.
The 36-year-old Derby County manager said: “The Liverpool game wasn’t easy to watch. I’m seeing too many players not willing to run back, not willing to defend and not willing to put everything on the line for that club.”
He added: “Are you telling me that’s the manager’s fault or the players’ fault? I don’t know. The players have to question themselves.”
Despite Rooney’s words, Man United management is reportedly considering replacing their current manager –former Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte and French legend Zinedine Zidane are the top contenders.
