Royal AM Defeats Kaizer Chiefs AGAIN

Royal AM once again reigned supreme over Kaizer Chiefs after defeating them in a friendly Macufe Cup clash on Sunday afternoon, 25 September.

In front of an energetic crowd at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, both teams remained goalless up until four minutes before the final whistle, whereby Ruzaigh Gamildien scored for Royal AM. But Chiefs’ attacking midfielder Keagan Dolly retaliated, levelling the score in stoppage time with a stunning free kick.

Ultimately, however, Thwihli Thwahla took home the Macufe Cup by beating them 4-2 on penalties.

This friendly marks the fourth time that Amakhosi have lost to Royal AM, with their most recent loss (1-0) occurring on 6 August in a DStv Premiership match.

Despite another loss, coach Arthur Zwane remained optimistic about his men, saying: “I think it was a good exercise for our boys for the fact that we also came back from a goal down.

“I still believe we could have done better in terms of the few goal-scoring opportunities that we created, but having said that we’re happy about giving other players an opportunity.”
